To this aim, we used assumed beta PDF approach, Steady Laminar Flamelet model, Eddy Dissipation Concept and Partially Stirred Reactor model. Numerical results are compared and analysed with respect to two experiments from the TNF Workshop data sets. The most accurate predictions were obtained with the Partially Stirred Reactor model in OpenFOAM. Finally, we present a simulation of an industrial combustion chamber designed for low-calorific gas burning.

Radiation and Nitric Oxide Formation in Turbulent Non-premixed Jet Flames
Radiative heat transfer has a significant effect on nitric oxide (NO) formation in turbulent non-premixed flames. Consequently, predictive models of turbulent non-premixed flames must include an accurate radiation submodel. To investigate the importance of radiation submodels in modeling NO formation, multiscalar measurements of temperature and species were coupled with radiation measurements i...
متن کاملInfluence of Preferential Diffusion in Turbulent Lean Premixed Hydrogen-Rich Syngas Spherical Flames at Elevated Pressure
The objective of this work was to investigate the influence of preferential diffusion on flame structure and propagation of lean-premixed hydrogen-carbon monoxide syngas-air flame at elevated pressure using direct numerical simulation (DNS) and detailed chemistry. The physical problem investigated is lean-premixed H2/CO outwardly propagating turbulent spherical flame at constant pressure of 4ba...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Nitrogen Oxide Formation in Lean Premixed Turbulent H2/O2/N2 Flames
Lean premixed hydrogen flames are thermodiffusively unstable and burn in cellular structures. Within these cellular structures the flame is locally enriched by preferential diffusion of H2. This local enrichment leads to hot spots in which the flame burns with considerably more intensity than the corresponding laminar flame. In this paper we investigate the impact of this local enrichment on th...
متن کاملAn Investigation of Fuel Mixing and Reaction in a CH4/Syngas/Air Premixed Impinging Flame with Varied H2/CO Proportion
For industrial applications, we propose a concept of clean and efficient combustion through burning syngas on an impinging burner. We performed experimental measurements of particle image velocimetry, OH radical (OH*) chemiluminescence, flame temperature, and CO emission to examine the fuel mixing and reaction of premixed impinging flames of CH4/syngas/air with H2/CO in varied proportions. The ...
متن کاملResearch on Cellular Instabilities of Lean Premixed Syngas Flames under Various Hydrogen Fractions Using a Constant Volume Vessel
An experimental study of the intrinsic instabilities of H2/CO lean (φ = 0.4 to φ = 1.0) premixed flames at different hydrogen fractions ranging from 0% to 100% at elevated pressure and room temperature was performed in a constant volume vessel using a Schlieren system. The unstretched laminar burning velocities were compared with data from the previous literature and simulated results. The resu...
